Dr. Cheryl Cusack

As we near the end of 2021, on behalf of the Association, I want to recognize the amazing efforts of nurses and healthcare workers across our province. Your continued dedication and expertise as the COVID-19 pandemic progresses demonstrates the immense leadership and importance of nurses in our healthcare system. We want you to know how much your skills and commitment to patients/clients in Manitoba and the profession is valued.

The pandemic has highlighted foundational health system concerns that must be addressed. Members have overwhelmingly indicated that issues such as nursing retention, quality work environments, including the point of care nursing voice in decision-making, and supporting nurses' well-being are essential. These topics have a significant impact on patients/clients and the nursing profession in Manitoba and will form the basis of our work in 2022.

On behalf of the board and staff of the Association, I want to wish you a Happy New Year and all the best during this holiday season.  As this can be a time to reflect and connect, I hope that as individuals you are each able to engage in activities that bring you comfort and joy. The larger health system issues are complex and deep-rooted, necessitating multi-faceted and long-term solutions. We look forward to continuing to work with you to advance these issues and advocate on behalf of clients and the nursing profession in 2022.
