Expanding on her introductory talk on Moral Injury, Dr. Callaway will discuss moral injury as specific to nursing, including situations in nursing that may cause moral injury. Additionally, she will address what an individual could expect if they accessed psychological services to address a moral injury.

Dr. Karis CallawayDr. Karis Callaway, Ph.D., C. Psych 
Clinical Psychologist and Assistant Professor, Department of Clinical Health Psychology, University of Manitoba

Dr. Callaway is a Clinical Psychologist with the Winnipeg Operational Stress Injury Clinic and Assistant Professor in the University of Manitoba’s College of Medicine. Her psychological expertise lies in the areas of traumatic stress and related difficulties such as Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, moral injury, depression, anxiety and substance misuse. Her specialty is working with current and former members of national defence, law enforcement and emergency response organizations. She also maintains interests in cross-cultural psychology and the impact one’s personal variables (e.g., culture, gender, race) have on the development, maintenance and healing from traumatic experiences. In addition to providing psychological assessment and intervention services, Dr. Callaway is also actively engaged in research, teaching, consultation and volunteer activities related to moral injury and traumatic stress.
