Advocating for Nurses: ARNM Meets with Manitoba MPs
Over the past two weeks, ARNM’s Executive Director met with 11 of Manitoba’s 14 Members of Parliament to discuss the issues that matter most to nurses and the health of Manitobans.
During these meetings, ARNM shared the federal budget briefing submitted earlier this year and outlined key advocacy priorities on behalf of Manitoba’s nursing community.
The conversations went beyond budget numbers - MPs and ARNM discussed urgent and emerging topics such as climate change, poverty, homelessness, national licensing for nurses, and the challenges of supporting health care delivery across Manitoba’s vast geography.
Several MPs expressed interest in deeper collaboration and committed to follow-up meetings to explore specific issues, including Indigenous health, initiatives to encourage students to pursue nursing, and opportunities to strengthen connections between nurses and policymakers.
ARNM will continue to keep members updated as these discussions evolve and to ensure nursing voices are heard at the federal level.
