Celebrating National Nursing Week 2026 with Advocacy, Connection, and Recognition

National Nursing Week takes place May 11–17, and this year, ARNM is proud to celebrate the impact nurses make every day in communities across Manitoba. This year's theme is The Power of Nurses to Transform Health.

National Nursing Week 2026, as highlighted by the Canadian Nurses Association, takes place from May 11–17 and celebrates the vital contributions of nurses across Canada. This year’s theme, The Power of Nurses to Transform Health, recognizes how nursing leadership, expertise, and advocacy continue to strengthen health systems and communities nationwide. Across the country, nurses and nursing organizations will be marking the week through events, recognition, and conversations that highlight the importance and impact of the profession - and ARNM is proud to be part of that national celebration here in Manitoba.

Throughout the week, we’ll be bringing nurses together through advocacy, professional development, research, and celebration - highlighting the many ways nurses continue to strengthen health care across our province.

The week begins on Monday, May 11, with ARNM’s third annual Legislature Day at the Manitoba Legislative Building. Members of our Board and Advocacy Committee will meet with MLAs from across party lines to bring forward member-informed recommendations and continue important conversations about the future of nursing and health care in Manitoba.

On Tuesday, May 12, we’re opening our Talk Tuesday session, Your Next Move – Exploring Career Paths in Nursing, to all nurses in Manitoba - whether you’re an ARNM member or not. This virtual webinar will explore the many career pathways available within nursing and the ways nurses can continue to grow, transition, and lead throughout their careers.

At the same time, ARNM will also be attending the 2026 Helen Glass Research Symposium as an exhibitor. Hosted by the University of Manitoba College of Nursing, the symposium brings together researchers, educators, students, and clinicians from across the province to share knowledge and strengthen nursing practice.

We’ll close out the week on Thursday, May 14, with our annual Celebration of Excellence at Canad Inns Polo Park. This special evening recognizes nurses across practice, leadership, education, and collaboration who are making a meaningful difference in health care across Manitoba.

We also encourage members to explore National Nursing Week events and resources shared through the Canadian Nurses Association as part of the broader celebration of nursing across Canada.

National Nursing Week is an opportunity to recognize not only the dedication and expertise of nurses, but also the importance of continuing to support, advocate for, and invest in the profession.
