As the holiday season approaches, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible accomplishments of nurses across Manitoba in 2024. Whether you’re at the bedside, advancing research, shaping policies, educating future nurses, or leading teams, each of us plays a critical role in the health and well-being of the people we serve. Your commitment, compassion, competence, and leadership continue to make a meaningful difference to Manitobans every day.
This year brought its share of challenges, successes, and opportunities to strengthen our profession. One of the 2024 highlights was our successful conference, which underscored the extraordinary power of the voice of nurses to shape and advance both the profession and the broader healthcare system. It was a powerful reminder of the resilience, innovation, and dedication that define nursing and the difference each of you makes through your work.
I would also like to recognize the outstanding nurses and teams across Manitoba who were honoured this year with ARNM’s Awards of Excellence. These awards celebrate the exceptional efforts of individuals and teams whose commitment and expertise have deeply impacted the lives of many. Your achievements are a testament to the strength and purpose of our profession, and we are proud to celebrate your contributions.
Through the ARNM Centennial Legacy Award and in partnership with the Canadian Nurses Foundation, we’ve had the privilege of awarding scholarships to ARNM nurses this year. These scholarships represent opportunities for growth and advancement—supporting nurses as they continue their journey toward making a lasting impact on our healthcare system. ARNM is proud to strengthen these opportunities by building partnerships that empower nurses to advance their careers and aspirations.
There’s something exciting on the horizon to support continuing education for nurses in Manitoba. Stay tuned—we can’t wait to share more with you soon!
I’d like to sincerely thank the ARNM Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers whose time, dedication, and expertise support our shared vision. Your efforts ensure that ARNM continues to celebrate, support, and advocate for nursing as a vital part of Manitoba’s health system.
As we enter this festive season, I hope you take time to rest, recharge, and connect with loved ones. The work we do is both challenging and rewarding, and the impact of your efforts—small and big—shapes the lives of so many. I’m hopeful about the opportunities that the coming year will bring, and I look forward to continuing our shared journey of collaboration, growth, and progress.
On behalf of the ARNM Board, staff, and volunteers, thank you for your dedication and for all that you do to strengthen our profession. I wish you and your loved ones a joyful and peaceful holiday season!
Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! Happy Kwanzaa! Happy Festivus!
