Honouring Indigenous Nurses Across Manitoba
On Indigenous Nurses Day, ARNM recognizes and celebrates the important contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis nurses across Manitoba.
We are also grateful for the official proclamation of May 13 as Indigenous Nurses Day by the Hon. Uzoma Asagwara, Uzoma Asagwara, Minister of Health, Seniors and Long-Term Care. This proclamation reflects an important recognition of the leadership, excellence, and impact of Indigenous nurses in shaping health care across the province.
Indigenous nurses bring leadership, knowledge, advocacy, and culturally grounded care to communities throughout Manitoba and play a vital role in strengthening health care systems and improving patient and family experiences. Their contributions are deeply rooted in community, culture, and a commitment to holistic care that continues to influence nursing practice and health outcomes across all settings.
Today, and throughout National Nursing Week, we honour and thank Indigenous nurses for the impact they continue to make across all areas of nursing practice. Their work strengthens not only the profession of nursing, but the health and well-being of the communities they serve.
