Nurses Encourage Manitobans to Get Their Flu Shots and COVID-19 Boosters

The Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) is encouraging all Manitobans to stay protected this respiratory virus season by getting their annual flu shot and staying up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines.

Cases of influenza and COVID-19 typically rise during the fall and winter months, leading to increased illness, missed work and school, and added strain on the health-care system. Vaccination remains one of the most effective ways to reduce the severity and spread of these respiratory infections.

Nurses across Manitoba continue to play a vital role in health education, prevention, and supporting the well-being of their communities. ARNM joins our colleagues in public health in reminding everyone that staying current with your flu shot and COVID-19 booster helps protect yourself and those around you - especially infants, older adults, immunocompromised individuals, and others at higher risk of severe illness.

“Vaccination isn’t just about protecting yourself - it’s about protecting your community,” says Joyce Kristjansson, Executive Director of ARNM. “Getting your flu shot and COVID booster is a simple step that helps reduce the spread of illness and supports a healthier Manitoba.”

The provincial government provides updated information each year about flu and COVID-19 vaccine availability, eligibility, and clinic locations. Manitobans are encouraged to review this information and contact their health-care provider or local public health office if they have questions about when and where to get vaccinated.
