Nurses Encourage Manitobans to Stay Up to Date on Vaccinations
The Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) is encouraging all Manitobans to stay current with their vaccinations as part of protecting both personal and public health.
Recent public health updates from the province have confirmed potential exposures to measles in several locations. Measles is highly contagious and can lead to serious complications, particularly for infants, immunocompromised individuals, and those who are unvaccinated.
Nurses across Manitoba play a key role in health education and disease prevention. ARNM joins our colleagues in public health in reminding everyone that vaccines remain one of the most effective tools we have for preventing the spread of infectious diseases like measles.
“Vaccination isn’t just about protecting yourself - it’s about protecting your community,” says Joyce Kristjansson, Executive Director of ARNM. “When more people are immunized, we reduce the risk of outbreaks and help keep our health system strong.”
The provincial government has provided detailed information about recent measles exposures and how to access vaccines. Manitobans are encouraged to review this information and contact their health-care provider or local public health office if they are unsure of their vaccination status.
