Growing up in a small farming community in Manitoba, Allison Wiens had experienced her formative years in a rural area. Taking opportunities to expand her understanding of different healthcare systems and structures, she took part in study trips to Cheng-du, China and completed her BN while living in the Yukon Territory of Canada.

In support and recognition of the significant contributions of all nurses to the health and well-being of the people in Manitoba the Province of Manitoba has proclaimed this week as National Nursing Week.

In honour of National Nursing Week (May 8 – 14), a group of nursing associations from across Canada are coming together to launch the #HeyNurse social media campaign, calling on the public to share personal thank you messages and memorable stories about nurses.
